Meet the MBA Faculty: Dr. Tufan Tiglioglu
Even if some people are born leaders, the skill of leadership still has to be nurtured and developed.
Tufan Tiglioglu, Ph.D., has worked in areas focused on leadership development throughout his career. Currently, Dr. Tiglioglu is director of the Ph.D. program in leadership at Alvernia and the associate director of the O’Pake Institute of Ethics, Leadership, and Public Service. In addition, he teaches in the MBA program.
As program director and faculty, he helps create an academic climate that facilitates the professional growth of students, staff and faculty.
Prior to teaching at Alvernia, Dr. Tiglioglu was a visiting assistant professor at Texas Tech University, where he received his M.A. and Ph.D. in 1998 and 2001, respectively. He received a B.S. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in Turkey in 1986.
Tiglioglu has applied his leadership and management skills starting in his career as a traffic engineer in Turkey to his positions in research and academics at Texas Tech and Alvernia.
The importance of leadership, specifically ethical leadership and public service, is a part of the mission of the O’Pake Institute, where Tiglioglu was appointed associate director in 2013. The O’Pake Institute is a catalyst for creating strategic community partnerships, supporting the broader community in developing leadership capacity and promoting dialogue on important civic issues and fostering public engagement.
